Emission & Environmental Flux

This meta-model describes quantified releases of substances and energy into the environment: the sources that cause them, the pathways they take to air, water and soil, the factors and measurements that quantify them, the abatement measures that reduce them, and the verification that makes the numbers trustworthy. It is its own model because an emission record is a derived claim: it must be reproducible from method plus activity data and independently verifiable, which imposes an evidence discipline that the underlying activity models do not need.

abatement

Reducing and attesting

Layers

abatementMeasures`: interventions that reduce source output · `verification`: independent attestation of quantified records

Findings

Catalogue-native findings must describe the information grouped by each layer. This legacy version does not declare them separately.

Questions & artifacts

Questions, artifact requirements and serial naming rules are required by Vercy vNext; they remain unassigned in this reference version.

How this specification operates

Dimension & namespace

  • REFERENCE `world.energy` (F1): fuel and power flows provide activity data for combustion sources.
  • REFERENCE `world.wasteFlow` (F5): treatment and disposal operations are emission sources with their own activity data.
  • REFERENCE `world.goodsMovement` (F3): freight transport activity underlies mobile source estimates.
  • REFERENCE `world.passengerMobility` (F7): passenger service activity underlies transit emission estimates.
  • REFERENCE `world.landParcel` (P2): stationary sources and discharge points are sited on identified parcels.
  • imports: GHG Protocol (ALIGN): accounting boundary and scope semantics for organizational inventories.
  • imports: IPCC guidelines (ALIGN): estimation method tiers and default factor semantics.

Artifact formats & serial data

Format-independent core. Concrete artifact formats and naming prefixes are not declared in this legacy version.

Policies & accepted processes

  • `verifiedInventoryAccess`: consumers read quantified emissions that carry a verification statement.
  • `monitoringDataFeed`: oversight and research consumers receive measurement series under agreed granularity.
  • `aggregateFluxStatistics`: territory and sector aggregates provided without source-level identity.

Read / add / edit / delete

CRUD procedures and interface bindings are not declared in this legacy version.

Ownership, roles & access

The emitting owner stewards its source and quantification records, while an independent environmental verifier archetype holds attestation access and a statistics office archetype stewards published aggregates. Access is granted by the respective steward through the catalogue's S1/S2 ownership and access models, with verification trails audited via S4.
